The Cube
Spacial elements from Philadelphia's 30th Street Station were diagramed and simplified into frame, plane and volume. Through different model itterations, I began assigning a hierarchy to these elements which resulted in the final cube model. The model utilizes wraping, piercing and framing.
Observatory
Urban voids dot much of Lancaster avenue's street scape due to neglect and abandonment. The observatory is an attempt to rehabilitate the void and engage the community. This observatory is essentially an urban garden in which you can see and learn about the different foods we eat. It also serves as a place to commune with neighbors and work together.
Boathouse
Located on the banks of the Schuylkill River is Boathouse Row which is well known for its competitive rowing tournaments. The inspiration for this design comes from an analysis of common joints that are found around Philadelphia. The Boat house allows its inhabitants to interact with both land and water by creating a contact point with-in the building.
